As a new parent, when you’re looking at all of the available travel system strollers on the market, it seems like many of the manufacturers are jockeying for your dollars by trying to up-sell you on all of the various bells and whistles. I recently took a look at the Safety 1st line of Jaunt travel system strollers and honestly found them to be a breath of fresh air in a crowded market. The Jaunt line of travel system strollers are perfect for parents looking for an affordable product with simple construction and operation that’s suitable for everyday use. As the name implies, this is a great product for hopping in and out of the car on quick errands.
What’s So Great About Safety 1st Jaunt Travel System Strollers?
The single biggest selling point of the Jaunt and accompanying Designer 22 infant car seat is its budget friendly price. You won’t find a lot of travel system strollers and infant car seat combinations which offer durability and safety at this price. However, Safety 1st has designed the jaunt with a minimum number of expensive add-ons to offer this system at an unbeatable price point.
It’s also simple. So many baby products are complicated to assemble and use these days, and as a sleep-deprived new parent you sometimes just want things to be easy. That’s what I really liked about the Jaunt. It’s very simple to set up and use, which can be a very good thing when you just need to be able to pick up and go. It’s also light. The lack of many different moving parts keeps the weight of the Jaunt to a minimum, so it’s easy to lift and stow.
The Jaunt and Designer 22 come in beautiful color schemes with patterns suitable for both boys and girls. The stroller features a very easy to use one hand folding mechanism and stands alone when retracted on most smooth, flat surfaces. The Jaunt utilizes sturdy dual swiveling wheels in the front as well as lockable rear wheels. The stroller comes standard with a child snack tray, a parent organizer tray with a separate covered compartment, and a two section canopy with a see-through window so you can sneak a peek of your little one’s face.
I also really liked how light the Designer 22 car seat is. When toting your infant around within the seat, it’s much lighter than many of the other units on the market. It includes standard safety features such as a five-point harness and has an easy to install car seat base. I actually found the car seat very easy to nestle into the base, which isn’t always the case with all models.
What’s Not So Great?
At this price point, you can’t expect to be purchasing an all-terrain unit. The Jaunt line of travel system strollers are perfect for sidewalks, parking lots, and navigating the aisles of the grocery store. Don’t expect to take this stroller off-road for extended periods or on very bumpy terrain and expect it to provide a smooth ride for your infant.
Additionally, the Designer 22 infant car seat is only suitable for infants up to 22 pounds. Once your child reaches one year of age and 20 pounds, you should be able to transfer them to a forward facing car seat, but with the weight limitations on the Designer 22, you’ll need to have one picked out and ready for when the time comes.
